Vitamin A Palmitate food grade
Vitamin A Palmitate EP4
Other Name : Retinol Palmitate
Molecular Formula : C36H60O2
Molecular Weight : 524.86
Stabilizer : BHT or DL-alpha-Tocopherol (as per customers favourate).
Appearance : yellow crystal or liquid
Identification : Positive
Assay : 1.70million iu/g min.
Absorbance ratio (325 nm) : 0.85min.
Peroxide value : 1.0 ml of 0.01mol/L Na2S2O3 max.
Acid value : 2.0 max.
Solubility
Vitamin A is soluble in fats and oils and hydrocarbons.
Stability
Excessive heat, light and oxygen will degrade the product. When stored in an unopened container at 250C, approximately 0.5% loss of potency per month is expected. Once the container is opened, the contents should be used as rapidly as possible and any unused portion padded with inert gas.
Storage below 250C will enhance shelf-life but may cause crystallization of the vitamin. Gentle warming, less than 400C, and thorough mixing before use will melt and homogenize the product.
During processing, the addition of an antioxidant such as dl-alpha tocopherol or BHT is recommended.
